The LS3/5A* just got a serious performance upgrade.

The NEW Rogers AB3a is an infinite baffle active stereo subwoofer system specifically designed for use with the LS3/5A.

The configuration is the same as the original award-winning Rogers AB1, where each subwoofer functions as a stand for the partnering LS3/5A.

Each active subwoofer utilises two Rogers LS3/5A bass units. Each bass unit is mass loaded with a specific resin to lower the resonant frequency and stiffen the extreme cone. Stiffening the cone dramatically improves the low-frequency definition and bass attack of the subwoofer system, greatly enhancing low-level spatial detail.

*AB3a will work with all LS3/5A speakers. Each subwoofer cabinet is constructed from 12mm birch plywood (the same cabinet material used in our award-winning Classic LS3/5A speakers) and houses a 50 Watt mono amplifier.

Each amplifier is adjustable for gain, frequency and phase response. Depending on the speaker position and room acoustics, the amplifier can be tailored to match the listening room acoustic perfectly.

The recommended connection is via the high-level Speakon input. Speakon connection leads are supplied with the subwoofers for ease of connection. Simply plug in the Speakon connector to the amplifier and connect the other end of the lead to the main systems power amplifier speaker terminals.

Supplied in a black satin finish with matching plinths, the Rogers AB3a’s greatly enhanced the performance of any LS3/5A speaker system and is compatible with both the 15 Ohm and 11 Ohm versions.

• “At the back of each AB3a, beneath a Tygan grille held in place magnetically, are two woofers like the ‘re-imagined’ B110s in Rogers’ current LS3/5As. The enclosure is sealed, whereas the original AB1 was ported. Below the woofers can be found four rotaries for adjusting the phase (0° -180° ), high- and low-level gain and low-pass filter frequency (40Hz-240Hz).”
