The Mk II upgrade to our globally best-selling Hana S Series cartridges elevates both musical performance and value. Master cartridge designer Maseo Okada introduces a new tapered aluminum cantilever with enhanced rigidity, significantly improving the transfer of groove modulations from the vinyl to the cartridge generator. The S Series Mk II cartridges incorporate higher-grade components, advanced materials, and exclusive technical processes borrowed from Hana's higher-end elite models, further enhancing the signature Hana "brilliant and gorgeous" sound.

Hana S Series Mk II cartridges use a new tapered aluminum cantilever with higher rigidity, and effective mass reduction at stylus tip, resulting in enhanced clarity and music transfer from vinyl record to cartridge generator. 

Critical parts, including the Yoke, Pole-pieces, and gold Terminal pins, have been cryogenically treated for a more natural sound.

Improved, non-resonant body shape, modeled after the Hana M Series, is damped with a matte Soft Feel Black elastomeric resin paint, and features a brass cap with threaded cartridge mounting fittings. The heavier Mk II cartridges offer better coupling with expanded compatibility to a wider range of tonearms, improving bass and dynamics.

The SL Mk II generator, also used in the Umami Blue and ML models, features an Alnico magnet and a cross-coil design with high-purity 30-micron copper wire and an 8Ω impedance. This design enhances signal-to-noise ratio, reduces moving mass for improved resolution and tracking, and optimizes performance across a wider range of phono stages.

  • “The Hana features a nude Shibata stylus fitted to an aluminum cantilever. Output balance is spec’d at < 1.5dB/1kHz, recommended VTF (vertical tracking force) is 2 grams, trackability is 70µm/2gr, channel separation is rated at 28dB/1kHz while frequency response is rated at 15Hz-32kHz. The internal impedance is rated at 30ohms/1kHz with suggested loading impedance of >400 ohms. The cartridge is on the light side at 5 grams..”
